Hi everyone. I've been stumped with this one for over a year now.
I can't figure out why my FaceBook app takes such a long time to load anything, especially videos while connected to wifi. However, YouTube works perfectly fine(under the same wifi), and if I were to disconnect the wifi, FaceBook loads much faster.
Can anyone figure this out? Cheers.

Did you try to delete and reinstall the Facebook app again? Since other apps do not seem to have a problem, it must be the Facebook app itself.
I'm beginning to think there is some kind of agreement between Facebook and the mobile networks to make sure it doesn't work properly on wifi so that we are forced to use mobile data.
I'm having the exact same issue. Here are the things I've tried:
1. Deleting and reinstalling the Facebook app
2. Logging off and signing in again
3. Restarting my wireless system
Also wanted to ask you, what brand of router/access point are you using? I'm currently on a Linksys Velop mesh wifi system. In my opinion that really shouldn't be an issue since everything else loads fine and I have a relative fast internet speed.
I've had this problem off and on for years. Over multiple iPhone's/iPad's (6, 6s, 7, iPad mini 4). Some days it's worse then others. Tried factory restoring phones, reinstalling FB, logging off/on FB, changing DNS settings on the phones and router. Some days they buffer and play fine, other days they don't (speed test shows 75+mb connection). Turn off wifi and it instantly plays without any problems. I've had about 4 different models of routers over this time too (connected to work routers, same problem), internet connection is 100/40. Doesn't seem to matter if on 2.4g or 5g wifi. Unsure how it is the app if I turn off the wifi and go onto 4g and everything works.
I'm at a complete loss as to how to resolve this :-/

I have the exact same problem.
The Facebook app is slow on every single wifi i try, but works like a charm on 4G.
