Magic Mouse right click stops working

In the last couple of weeks, secondary click takes a while to start working.

It's still checked as enabled in System Preferences. If I uncheck it and then recheck it, it works. But I'm not sure if that's really fixing something, or if the problem fixes itself during the time it takes to open System Preferences.

I have a 2011 iMac running El Capitan 10.11.5.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

I'm not sure when I upgraded, but I think it worked fine for a while.

More information:

I usually only use the computer early in the morning, then my wife switches users and uses it during the day.

This morning, I paid close attention. I switched the user to me, logged in, and right-click wasn't working. Then I switched back to her account and found right-click was working fine there. Switched back to mine, and now right-click works fine for me. So there's something about switching users that's shutting it off for me, but maybe not for her.

It might be worth doing an SMC reset.

Using you as the user account, follow the instructions here. It may cause a small loss in settings but not with your files.

Shut down the computer. Unplug the computer's power cord and any peripherals. Wait 15 seconds or so. Re-attach the computers power cable. Wait a further few seconds then press the power button to turn on the computer.
