Jul 12, 2016 5:22 AM in response to pietrocat95by turingtest2,Try the DFU restore or reformat methods to release the currently pending sectors so they become added to the reallocation list. 5,000 is quite a chunk but the iPod has over 16,000 block set aside for this so there is a chance you can get the device back to a stable position. If/when you can get the pendings cleared try the break-up large transfers method and check the stats periodically. Start over if there are new pendings.

Jul 12, 2016 6:04 AM in response to pietrocat95by pietrocat95,When i press menu+select buttons for 12 seconds my ipod display went blank. Then I open itunes and i select restore ipod, but after about 10 seconds the display becomes white and the "ban" symbol appears with the words do not disconnect.
Should i do anything else?
Thanks

Jul 12, 2016 6:16 AM in response to pietrocat95by turingtest2,Sounds like you just need to let iTunes deal with it. After a while it should pop-up like a brand new device. Check the stats afterwards to see if all the pendings have been converted.

Jul 13, 2016 12:12 PM in response to turingtest2by pietrocat95,Hi, the ipod can't be restored, i tried lots of times but anything changed. I think it's impossible to repair it. I just need to replace the HDD.
Don't you think so?
Thanks if you want we can meet in FBook and try to solve the problem there

Jul 13, 2016 3:17 PM in response to pietrocat95by turingtest2,I'd have a go at reformatting first before completely giving up on the drive.

Jul 14, 2016 10:43 AM in response to turingtest2by pietrocat95,also, lots of times when i try to reformat after the mac says the it's preparing the ipod to reset (or whatever it says in english ) and then the ipod display goes totally white for a while. Do you think i have to replace the HDD?
Thanks

Jul 17, 2016 5:03 PM in response to pietrocat95by turingtest2,★HelpfulGoing white may be part of the restore process. If you have a Mac you could try asking a Windows owning friend to restore the device and pass it back. Using the other platform sometimes does a better job of rebuilding the file system on the device and releasing the pending sectors. If they won't clear, or the numbers just go on increasing, then that would suggest that it is time for a new drive.
