Q: Can't receive Digital messages but able to send them.

Hey everyone I am hoping someone will be able to answer my question, I have an Apple Watch on OS3 beta 2 and also have a friend on watch OS 2.2, Do you and your friends need to be on the same Watch OS to receive and send Digital messages ? As I am able to send them digital touch messages but they do not have the finger icon to send me digital touch messages.
