Exactly which number did you call? Was it the "real" Apple support @ 800–275–2273?

Then it should be ok - they have to ask questions to make sure you are who you claim you are.

I've never had to call because I have all passwords, security questions, etc. saved so I can look them up.

I have done this before. It is legit as long as you call the real number for Apple Support.

When you create your Apple ID, you provide Apple details that only you can know:

• email address that you have chosen for your Apple ID is HALF of your login credentials
• a password, which ONLY YOU know
• a rescue email address
• answers to security questions that ONLY YOU know, in case you forget any of the above (do not have access to the rescue address

Apple ONLY KNOWS what you have told them, so if you "talk" with them, they will ask you for any of the above (except the password) to prove that you are who you say you are.

After all, if you could get the password reset without answering any questions to identify yourself, anyone else could.

Marie, you can stop worrying... what you describe is normal and necessary - you say you got the "real" Denmark number from the country page, so you are safe.

Yes. They used it to verify my identity and then reset the password. Account is in my hands and secure with 2 factor authentication.
