How on God's green Earth can I listen to WMV stuff on my MacBook Pro? It seems like I have to move Heaven and Earth. Help?

If the files don’t contain DRM, use VLC.
If they do, no Mac OS X software can play or convert them.

Flip4Mac used to make wmv work in Quicktime Player 7…

Then Quicktime X came along & broke the concept of plugins. Their site claims it still works on 10.11, so you may want to confirm with them what it does since they do not have a free trial anymore. The pro versions can convert WMV's - I have a licence on an earlier OS X version.
There are also WMV player apps in the App store too.
