Apple watch displaying iMessages (text messages) but iPhone doesn't

If you have your Apple Watch set for Wrist Detection, then you will only get notifications on the watch, and not the phone. Is this what you are referring to? If you open the phone after you have seen the message on the watch, you should see it on the phone, but would not see a notification there, since you had read it on the watch. Your messages are actually coming through the phone to the watch.

If you have not yet done so, it may help to update your iPhone and Apple Watch to the latest software, starting with your iPhone.

Note that some other users have also reported the same issue - with some text messages (not just notifications) being delivered only to their watch and not also to their iPhone - including under the latest software.
