Q: My outdoor walk did not sync in my activity.
How do sync a workout with activity on watch

Hi Dominick
If you wish to record walks as workouts, be sure to start and end each workout using the Workout app on your watch, choosing Outdoor Walk as the activity type:
Activity-related estimations made by the watch (whether during workouts recorded via the Workout app or during general daily wear) are synced with the Activity app automatically.
Also check each of the following:
- Check that Wrist Detection is turned on:
- On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > General > Wrist Detection - turn on.
- If passcode is enabled, be sure to unlock your watch after placing it on your wrist.
- Check that you are wearing your watch sufficiently snugly on the top of your wrist (if it is worn too loosely, your watch may believe that it has been removed from your wrist).
- Check that fitness tracking is enabled:
- On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > Privacy > Motion & Fitness - check that Heart Rate and Fitness Tracking are both enabled.
If you are referring to a lack of Exercise credit on your watch in respect of your recent walk, note that, in order to credit progress towards your daily Exercise goal, the Activity app aims to identify activity that equals or exceeds the intensity of a brisk walk. This also applies both during general daily wear and when recording workouts via the Workout app.
It is possible that no parts of your recent walk met this pace requirement. The definition of a brisk walk varies by person and depends on your personal information. To check that your information is accurate - and to update it over time:
- On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > Health > Edit - tap and adjust items, then tap on Done.
During general daily wear and when your iPhone is not taken along on certain outdoor workouts, the Activity app relies on your arm motion (measured by the accelerometer) to track movement for the purpose of crediting progress towards the Exercise goal. For the best results, allow the arm on which you are wearing your watch to swing naturally as you move around and during workouts (where relevant to the activity type).
Calibrating your watch can improve the accuracy of various estimations (including Exercise credit) made by the Activity app and Workout app. More information and instructions for calibrating your watch (including for resetting existing data and starting afresh) are available via the link below.
