Q: Has anyone else had issues updating iPad2 iOS 8.1.1 to iOS 9.3.2?

I had been running iOS 8.1.1 on my 1st generation iPad2 for about two years. Most of the apps i currently have, have been installed on my iPad2 for longer than three years and all running smoothly. Until I decided to update to iOS 9.3.2 my device was perfect but, Apple's advertising department does a good job in their own right.

My iPad2 works fine for about a week at which time my iTunes tells me, "the information on this iPad can no longer be read" and "to fix the issue go to summary in iPad settings and restore the iPad to factory settings." Now i am having trouble getting my apps installed from a recent iCloud Back-up using iOS 9.3.2., and yesterday my iTunes mistook my iPad2 as being associated with an account/computer I disconnected from in 2012.

I am hoping to try-out iOS 9.3.2 for longer than a week before I restore from a backup of my iOS 8.1.1.

iPad 2, iOS 9.3.2, Problems after update from iOS 8.1.

There are plenty of iPad 2 users on 9.3.2 with no particular issues. I suspect that those old apps, longer than 3 years, could be the problem. They may not have updated since you were using iOS 8.1.1 and they may be having issues in 9.3.2, a big jump in iOS.

If you restore the backup you have in iTunes that was made with 8.1.1, it will not restore 8.1.1. That version of iOS is now gone for good. The iTunes restore will place a fresh and current version of iOS on your iPad, 9.3.2. You could try restoring the backup through iTunes (IMO better than restoring from iCloud) and perhaps it will work this time (it will have 9.3.2). If not about all I can recommend is a Restore as New and reinstalling the new versions of the apps. Make sure you import all photos and copy any data files before you restore. Good luck.
