Partition Not Appearing

I ended up in this same situation. I tried to expand the bootcamp partition by creating a third partition. For a couple days I could see all of the partitions in Terminal but now some of them are gone and now it shows my hard drive being almost full. This is definitely not true.

Please post the output of the following OSX Terminal commands.

Try disk2. It is strange that you do not have a disk1. Was a physical disk removed?

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Some more info on my system. It's an iMac (the generation before the 5k display) with a 3TB Fusion drive in it. I had bootcamp set up, created a new partition to expand the windows side of things and as soon as I did that, Bootcamp disappeared. I tried creating a hybrid MBR but it didn't seem to work. Now I can't see bootcamp or the empty partition I created, these are now contributing to the 1.25TB of "Other"

The gap between GPT3 and GPT4 is where Bootcamp used to be. It seems to have been converted to Free Space.

What tool was used to expand/modify Bootcamp. Apple tools do not support moving or altering BC partitions.

I used disk utility to create a new partition. I was then going to move over to the windows side and use a program to swallow up that empty space. I never got that far though.

As soon as I created the new empty partition everything got messed up with the MBR and GPT. I tried to create a hybrid MBR with Testdisk and I don't know if it succeeded or not but next thing I knew I couldn't find bootcamp or the other empty partition and it's now just taking up space on my hard drive without allowing me to access it.

We need to backup/erase and rebuild your Fusion drive/restore to get the disk space back. Once it is back to normal, you can re-install Windows using BC Assistant.

Okay. I'll have to back up my hard drive. This may take a bit of time. I'll come back as soon as I can. It may be tomorrow though. Any specific way I should back up the hard drive?

I've got a laptop to work off of and talk on here.

Are there some first steps after backing up that I can do before I come back to you?

Use Time Machine and an external disk for backup. The disk should have about 1.5 times the disk space that is currently used on your internal Fusion disk.

Okay I've got a drive on the way to my house right now with plenty of space on it.
