Ipod Nano/Greyed out music

Hi guys,

So I am using an Ipod Nano 4th Generation but when it comes to connecting to ITunes it just wont work. I'm using Windows 10 and have just downloaded the new ITunes.

My Ipod is recognised on ITunes under devices however when I click on it to get my songs, they are all greyed out with just a tick next to each of the songs (there is no symbol in the far left column, see below)

Basically, I want to fix this so I can buy and add new music to my Ipod...how do I do this??

Thank you in advance,

Emma

Hi Emma,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Judging by your post, I can see that you are trying to sync music to your iPod nano, but running into some difficulties. I know it's important to get your content onto your devices, so I'm happy to provide some direction for this.

The view that your screenshot shows is displaying what is currently on your iPod nano. The grey tracks are songs that are not in your iTunes library. All of this is expected.

To properly sync your music to your iPod, check out the steps here:

Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iTunes on your computer using USB - Apple Support

If you wish to have these tracks in your iTunes library as well, and they were purchased with iTunes originally, then follow the steps here:

Redownload or transfer your iTunes Store purchases from an iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer - Apple Support

I hope this helps clarify things, cheers!
