Q: iBooks; multiple book updates, need help

I have 57 updates on purchased books. This shows in the bottom right corner with an icon on the purchased 'button'. I follow it through to the updates section, and it lists all the books that have an update (just like the app store), but I cannot click the update button here. I have to click the book itself and then click the update button.

Two questions: Is there an "update all" feature similar to the app store?

Why can I not update from the actual update list screen?

I am running the most up to date iOS, however this has been an ongoing problem (since iOS 8)

Thanks for any assistance.

    Hi, agould!

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. After reading your post, I am understanding you are having trouble updating your iBooks; when you go into the Updates section, you're not able to click on the individual 'Update' button next to each book. Instead, you have to select the book itself and then update. I always stay up to date with my iBooks, and I want to make sure you can, too!

While there isn't an "Update All" option in iBooks, you should be able to use the 'Update' button on the initial Updates page--you should not have to select each book individually first. Since that doesn't seem to be working for you, I suggest trying these troubleshooting steps:

First, restart your iPhone. If you're not sure how to do that, you can follow the instructions in the article below.

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If you find you are still unable to update with the 'Update' buttons after restarting, back up your iPhone using iCloud or iTunes, then use iTunes to restore the iPhone back to factory settings.

Back up instructions can be found here: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Follow the steps in this article to restore using iTunes: Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

After the restore is done, set the iPhone up as new (without restoring your backup, at least temporarily), then sign into the iTunes & App Stores and try your iBooks updates again. If everything works, you can put your backup onto the iPhone using the following article.

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

    Happy reading!
