Hey, I have a Macbook Pro (mid 2012) and I want to know if when I update it to the newest update (OSX El Capitan), if it will delete all of my files. My biggest worry is that my iMovie projects will go away if I update the computer. Does someone know if it will delete my files? If so, is there a way to save them so that I can have them with the new update? P

2. Copy all your data to an external drive with Time Machine or a cloning utility.

If the update completes successfully it should not delete any files.
However, it is highly recommended you keep a backup of important files on an external drive.
You can use Time Machine built in to Osx to maintain an updated backup.

You’ll only need to buy iMovie if you don’t have access to a version compatible with El Capitan. Before proceeding, if you got it with the computer and haven’t already done so, open the Mac App Store, click on the Purchases tab, and if you’re given the option, accept it into your Apple ID.

One more thing- so I went to the app store and then went to iMovie, and it gave me the option that said verify or something with your apple ID. So I signed in, then it said "update", then I pressed continue, then it said "install" and I pressed it, now it gives me the option to buy it. If I click buy, will there be two copies of iMovie (the new and old version)? And will I be able to get my projects from the older iMovie to the newer one?
