Q: IMac won't show up on network

Hello I've recently stumbled upon a weird problem. So my iMac is running OS X 10.8.5 and i used to move files between it and my windows desktop all the time without any issue, but recently I had to reinstall windows 10 and now I can't see my iMac on my Windows PC. And so i tried a whole bunch of things in hopes of fixing it but to no avail the computers still can't see each other heres what i've done trying to fix it:
- Using go > connect to server > smb://192.168.x.x or smb://{windowspcnetworkname} and i've tried cifs://

- Attempting to do the same as the first but in terminal
- changing the workgroup on both computers

- i've disabled restarted and re-enabled the smb option in sharing settings

- disabled afp (to see if that was the issue)
- I've reset my ethernet settings

I don't know what else to try or what to try on the windows computer

And you can see below in the screenshots that my macbook pro shows up on both and works on both i have no idea how to fix this please help me.

I've tried everything on that page already except getting logs from the windows pc (i don't know how to do that) the only thing that page helped me find is console giving me this:
    NetworkBrowserAgent: SharePointBrowser::handleOpenCallBack returned 57

I've tried every different way of "forcing" connection on both computers (as i stated in the original post) even IPv6 on the windows (i don't know how to connect IPv6 on OS X)

And pinging results in success no packets lost on both machines

Are there explicitly shared folders on both systems? Is each machine able to see its own shared folders via a network path? Do you have any firewall products installed?

yes on the mac documents, movies, and pictures are shared and Everyone has read/write access on the windows computer everything should be shared but just in case i specified documents as a shared folder and attempted to connect smb://ryan-desktop/documents and still get the cannot connect to server same when i use it's local ip address instead.
I have no special antivirus/firewall on either computer just whatever came with the computer and if i disable the windows firewall i still get the "There was a problem connecting to the server"

On the Windows machine what do you see if you type \\RYAN-DESKTOP into the address bar of File Explorer? Are any folders listed?

On the Mac if you go into System Preferences > Sharing and select File Sharing in the left hand column do you have one or more folders listed in the Shared Folders: pane, and if you click Options... have you enabled Windows File Sharing?

Yes all the folders i specified as shared show up in file explorer and on the mac yes i have 6 folders set to shared and everyone has read/write and i probably wouldn't have posted this if it was as simple as forgetting to check smb in options

and yes windows file sharing is on i said in the original post my macbook can see and access both but not my imac

Apologies for the obvious questions. Perhaps somebody with more of a clue than me will happen by.
