iPhone not accessible to PC

This is not entirely true. It is found in iTunes, the symbol displays, although some songs indicate that they cannot be found. When the iphone 6SE is plugged in it will open Nikon ViewNx 2 as my specified default program. iTunes and Windows 10 have the latest updates. Apple iPhone appears in Portable Devices in Device Manager as does the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver in Universal Serial Bus controllers. The update driver option has been taken for the device. However, the device does not appear in File Explorer and therefore not in ViewNx 2 either.

I am trying to transfer the photos on the iPhone to the PC. And yes there are photos in the Camera Roll and the screen is on the photos.

A few options to try in this order...

First configure AutoPlay to Take No Action instead of the Nikon program. It may be interfering and you can always return it to Nikon.

Secondly with your phone connected try deleting the driver (see SS below). This is better than updating it. Then disconnect phone, reboot Windows and reconnect phone. The driver will reinstall afresh from scratch, not an update.

If all of that fails try the steps in this article in exactly that order.

Hmmn.... I know you have photos in Camera Roll but try this anyway. Take two new junk pictures and see if F.E. recognizes your phone now. Before you die laughing take a look at this post:

iPhone 4 Windows 8.1 Not Recognized

Some users have had to remove and reinstall iTunes and while iTunes is not your real problem, the drivers that recognize the iPhone in W10 are part of iTunes as well. If you decide to do it follow the exact procedures here, you would have to remove all Apple components and then reinstall them. If that does not work I would suggest posting on the Microsoft forum.
