iPod Shuffle (4th gen 2012) Trouble Deleting Songs

Recently, my father gave me his iPod Shuffle, and I wanted to change some of the music on it. I have connected the device, signed into iTunes, gave my laptop authorizations, and, although both the device and it's music show up, I cannot edit anything and cannot find the files on my computer. I have seen other questions similar to this, and have tried their answers, but so far nothing has worked. Any advice?

Hey Copperdog555,

Looks like you are having troubles with syncing your newly received iPod shuffle with your iTunes library. Please be sure that you are running the latest version of iTunes by checking for updates in your App store. If you do not have any music in your iTunes library, try adding music to the library first, then attempt to sync it with the iPod shuffle. Once the sync is successful, it will erase all of the songs currently on the device and replace it with what you've added to the iTunes library. The links below will assist you with getting this accomplished.

Get the latest version of iTunes

Locate and organize your iTunes media files

iPod shuffle Support

Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iTunes on your computer using USB
