Try restarting: hold Power and Home buttons until the Apple logo appears.

Jul 14, 2016 3:56 AM in response to hootie64by Demo,Does anybody else have access to your iPad that might have set the passcode? If it has been a while since you restarted, anybody that used your iPad in the interim could have done it. It might pay to ask around.
If that's not the case and if Diana's suggestion doesn't help, then the only way to remove the passcode is to restore the device. If you have a backup, you can restore that after unlocking the iPad.
