This accessory may not be supported

Without knowing anything else (like what your workaround is) the first things I would suspect is that either your charger or lightning cable is going bad. Can you swap these and see if the problem continues? If not, you might take them to a nearby Apple Store and let them look at the accessories since they are genuine/original Apple products.

Your welcome. Take the phone also. From your workaround description, it sounds more likely the problem is with the phone than the accessories. But taking them all to the Apple store is the only way to know for sure. Out of curiosity, how did you come-up with the Airplane mode fix?

You might want to try the simplest first. That symptom can mean that there is dirt in the Lighting connector on the bottom of the phone. Inspect it with a bright light and clean out any cruft or pocket lint in it with a non-metallic probe such as a toothpick or cotton swab stem (without the cotton).
