Q: audio is still audible even after muting in multicam edit

Hi,

I have a strange behavior: in a multicam edit, I mute the track, I pull down dB, I uncheck the audio but I still can hear the sound ! That's really weird. When I go to edit/set sound to silent it is muted but if I want just one part muted, I can't. Tried new compound clip, same issue.

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

Could you post a screenshot of what's happening? Might help to see what's causing the problem. Maybe screenshot of project and/or multicam editor.

    Hi Tom,

thanks for your very quick reply ! here's a screenshot (it's in french) but you can see, no audio selected in multicam, sound muted, and still audio coming out. I remember in FCP7 having those kind of problems could be solved by deleting attributes without selecting anything, it would "reset" the clip, maybe it has to do with render files ?no-sound_yes-soundsound.jpg

Could you double click the multicam clip to show the multicam editor?

here's a screenshot of the multicam editor and a screenshot of muted clip playing sound. I did trash all the render of the project, I mute the track and I hear sound ! I can't believe it, it's like there is a invisible audio track somewhere. I did copy paste all the editing in another project, same thing…

Wild guessing here... could this be an oddity caused by the audio analysis?

I'd try resetting all the "améliorations audio" by clicking the round arrow, delete render files again, for good measure, and see if that fixes it.

I don't know why it's doing that, and I can't reproduce the problem.

    Hi Luis,

thanks for your answer but the problem is still impossible to understand : I export the project as xml; reimport, same problem, trashed every audio anylisis or render I found, same problem. i copy just this clip in another sequence, problem gone ! I copy all the project, problem back, it's like there's an invisible track somewhere…

After deleting one by one clip, trying to find where does my invisible sound come from, I found that if I remove the first cut in my multicam edit (made the software crash at first), the problem is gone ! It looks like a bug, unfortunately I have no explanation but this first cut made my sound continue all over the project even if everything is muted. So problem solved, thanks Luis and Tom for your help ! I hope it won't never happend again to anybody…

    all the best from Marseille.
