Q: Migration of iPhoto Library to Synology to run on El Capitan

Hi, I have copied an iPhoto library from a iMac running OS X to a Synology DS412 Play NAS. I am then trying to import the library from the NAS to my new iMac running El Capitan. When I run the import, I get the message "Photos was unable to repair permissions on your library." . Any ideas on how to resolve? The NAS is mounted to the iMac using the Admin user so should have the permissions...

Thanks
Pritesh

You can't have an iPhoto Library on a NAS.

iPhoto needs to have the Library sitting on disk formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Users with the Library sitting on disks otherwise formatted regularly report issues including, but not limited to, importing, exporting, saving edits and sharing the photos.

    See this article

for more. Note also the comment:

“Additionally, storing the iPhoto library on a network rather than locally on your computer can also lead to poor performance or data loss.”

Secondly: you do not import the library. You simply move it - drag and drop - to the new machine.
