Jul 15, 2016 1:42 PM in response to MichealCollinsby alex_oz,Hello MichealCollins,
Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. I know how important understanding how Apple Music works with your personal library is to you! If I understand correctly, you want to know what happens if you have songs in your personal library that are already part of Apple Music. If the songs are in the Apple Music catalog, Apple makes them instantly available to access on all of your devices. Songs that Apple Music can’t identify can be uploaded with iTunes into iCloud Music Library for listening on all your devices. Here are more details on this info:
Add music from your own collection to your Apple Music library

Jul 16, 2016 7:17 AM in response to MichealCollinsby chris_g1,Thanks for replying! Yes, you're correct, content you purchase with your Apple ID is also available on any device but are not matched, as this article explains:
Any songs that are not available in the Apple Music catalog will be uploaded. For example, I have a song in my iTunes that I wrote and recorded myself. In this example, the copy of this song will be uploaded from my iTunes library on my computer, and will be available on any device I use Apple Music with, like my iPhone. I hope this explains this feature of Apple Music better.

Jul 16, 2016 7:22 AM in response to chris_g1by MichealCollins,Thanks yes this is how I thought purchases worked in Apple Music. And is it correct to say if I upload a cd I own to Apple Music it will match it to the same cd album if it's available on Apple Music if not it's simply uploads i. Is that correct to say

Jul 16, 2016 8:46 AM in response to irina_wby MichealCollins,Thanks so much can I ask why is there a need for matching at all and why are purvchased songs not matched I don't want them to be im just asking why did they not include marching for purchases as well
-
Jul 16, 2016 9:32 AM in response to MichealCollinsby chris_g1,No worries, maybe this will help explain further:
"Matching" music puts it into the iCloud Music Library.
But, purchases from the iTunes Store are already in the cloud to be available on all your devices, so there is no need to match them.

Jul 16, 2016 10:42 AM in response to chris_g1by MichealCollins,Yeah that makes sense when a song is matched it appears as Apple Music on the iCloud status is that right
-
Jul 16, 2016 11:10 AM in response to MichealCollinsby erin_b1,That is correct, the matched song is added to your iCloud Music Library as part of your Apple Music subscription:

Jul 16, 2016 1:19 PM in response to MichealCollinsby MichealCollins,if a song you purchased is no longer available on the iTunes Store is it uploaded or will the iCloud Status still remain as purchased

Jul 16, 2016 1:35 PM in response to MichealCollinsby chris_g1,Great question! I think in that specific situation when an artist pulls their content from the iTunes Store, you may have to take a physical copy of that song in your iTunes library and have that matched back to your iCloud Music Library. The iTunes Store support through AppleCare would be the better place to answer that question, as that runs into specific terms & conditions. You can contact iTunes Store support here:
