Q: How can I connect an iOS device to a wireless network without using the touchscreen

Ok so, the touchscreen on my 5th gen iPod touch(iOS 9.2.1 I think) is broken, from damage to the cable(display portion of the cable's damaged too, but it still works a bit). The display assembly's pretty much unusable, but the rest of it still works, and I wanna be able to restore it to a new device when I eventually get one(iPhone 7 please don't suck). The only problem is that right after it broke, we got a new wireless router, so it hasn't been able to connect to it and do stuff like getting texts and things like that.

Yeah it's kinda stupid, but I wanna find some way to just connect my iPod to the new wireless network, without using the touchscreen.

So I don't have a massive gap in my texts(other things too probably) between when it broke and getting a new phone or something.

Also, if I can get it to connect, would it have logged out of everything after all this time?(it's kind of been offline for like the past four months)(I really should've asked this a long time ago)(yeah it already has a massive gap from that)

And if it makes a difference, my iPod doesn't have a password on it.

Thanks

iPod touch (5th generation), iOS 9.2.1

The only way I can think of that might work if you have another 5G or 6G iPod or iPad or iPhone  with an iOS version greater to or equal to that on the broken iPod.

What you do is setup that other device with your network and other stuff and make an encrypted backup and then restore the broken iPod from that backup. You have to use an encrypted backup to get passwords to restore to another device.
