iPhone 6 hardware failure

My iPhone 6 just stopped working one fine day, just refused to turn on. I got it checked at an Apple Authorised Service Centre and it was diagnosed as a hardware failure. This means that NOTHING can be done and the phone is not worth the paper that my son writes his school notes on! This is the exact problem that I faced with my iphone 5 - it wasn't used for about 1 month and thereafter, it just refused to boot and was, again, diagnosed as a hardware failure! My iphone 5 was also about 6 months out of the warranty period. I am at my wit's end! I have used so many other phones over the years (before I switched to Apple) and those have never given up on me like this one has (that too, twice!). What can I do?
