Q: iPhoto is frozen

I changed iPhoto preference to automatically find 'location' (in advanced preferences). Now iPhoto is frozen. I get the colour wheel and cannot do or change anything back. I have to force quit. Shutting down the computer and restarting have not helped.

It is 8.1.2.  I think I have just solved it.  There was a photo attachment in my mail that was also 'stuck' and I think that was the problem. I have deleted the mail and attachment, and iPhoto has gone back to normal. I have changed the location back to 'never' just in case!

    Thanks for reading my post.

Keep this preference turned off.  The location servers for older iPhoto versions are no longer available, because Apple did not renew the contract with Google to use the servers.  Older versions of iPhoto are can crash if they are trying to retrieve locations from the server.  You can only use the places feature in iPhoto 9.5.1 or newer, because the newer versions are using different servers.
