Q: Is there a way to play an iDVD project WITHOUT the DVD?
Hello,
I LOVE iMovie and iDVD! I still use iMovieHD (iMovie6) and an older version of iDVD (7.1.2). But with the growth of on-line streaming (Netflix, Hulu, etc...) and the fact that many computers no longer even have a CD/DVD reader, I can see that there will be a time - very soon, when no one will have DVD players in there homes (think VCR's...), and then how will I share my movies with family and friends?
Obviously, I know about YouTube and FaceBook and other social media sharing sites, but I would like something that allows me to play my movies in an iDVD format (with titles and chapters, etc), but without the actual DVD.
Does something like this exist?
What I would like to be able to do - is to save an iDVD project, using the "Save as disc image" feature, THEN, have a way to play that "disc image" directly - without ever actually burning a DVD.
I am imagining that I could actually save many many disc images to a small portable external HardDrive, or perhaps even a USB Flashdrive.
But is there a way to play these iDVD "disc images" directly from the External HD or Flashdrive?
I am hoping that there is some sort of software or hardware that allows me to connect my saved projects directly to the smart TV via an HDMI cord or something?
Bottom-line, I want to be able to give Grandma or Uncle Joe, or one of my kids a FlashDrive (or Ext HD) and have them be able to watch the movies and iDVDs that I have worked so hard on (just family home movie stuff).
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated!
