the new apple id password is not working for my login for mu macbook air

Some one please help... so, after I changed my iCloud password, my login password for my macbook air is suppose to be the same as my iCloud password, but it is not allowing me to login with my new iCloud password. The password i use to login is different and is not the new password. Is there a way I can change it? I have tried resting my password from system preferences, but my current iCloud password, is my new password and it won't let me change to my new apple password.

Not exactly.

Your admin password is not the same as your iCloud (Apple ID) password.

  1. Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu, then click Users & Groups.
  2. Select your user name from the list of users.
  3. Click the Change Password button, then follow the onscreen instructions. If you're using a password hint, remember to update the hint for your new password.
