Can't update my mini IPad to IOS 9 and it's stuck on a black screen

I was trying to updatee my mini IPad to IOS 9 using my computer but it's been stuck on "Preparing IPad for software update" for hours and my mini IPad won't come out of a black screen with a charger pointing towards the iTunes symbol. I've tried turning my IPad off and back on and removing my wire which is clearly connected to the computer and reconnecting it (Advice taken from others of similar situations) after it wouldn't make any progress after hours but none has worked. What should I do?

iPad Mini, iOS 7.1.2, null

Hello T Kwan,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. I know how important getting your iPad working properly again is to you! If I understand correctly, you are unable to complete the update process to iOS 9 on your iPad Mini, even after plugging into iTunes on a computer. Here is what I suggest to resolve your issue:

1. Make sure your iTunes and computer operating system has all available updates installed, as that is important to properly communicate with your devices in the restore process:

Get the latest version of iTunes

2. Next, I would try turning off your iPad and restarting your computer, and then try the iTunes recovery process again.

If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

3. If you're still not able to get your iPad working, make sure to address the points in this article, as well as try with a different computer:

If you see an error when you update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod

Cheers!
