Q: iWeb 3.04 quit on os 10.11 ElCapitan

I love my iWeb and have used it daily since 2007. Keep adding pages and blogs and now must have more than 100 pages. After buying a new desktop iMac retina and upgrading to El Capitan 10.11 - iWeb is refusing to publish.  I know it is discontinued - shame on you Apple. I have looked at EasyWeb, flux, Web Acapella, Wordpress, and Wix.  None of them compare to iWeb. Isn't there some way to resurrect iWeb?

I also have the same problem that iWeb won't publish and I recently upgraded to ElCapitan 10.11.5.  I have iWeb 3.0.4.  The specific problem I have with iWeb is the hyperlinks don't show after you publish, but they do appear when the cursor is passed over a hyperlink.  Can we fix this?

    joejolley,

I had too problems on uploading when I upgraded to El Capitan. The solution to me was to downgrade again to OS X Yosemite, and it works 100% perfectly again.

Guys you want to share your websites? I just love to see websites made with iWeb.

Well, of course Wordpress and Wix will not be good replacements for iWeb, because they are just not the same - Wordpress is what is known as a Content Management System and you can install it on your server - Wordpress.org or use the free Wordpress.com.  Wix is not the same as you create it online and use the Wix servers to publish the site - it is mainly for folks who want a quick and easy option to get a site up online and who do not really know that much about web design or sites.

The best alternative to iWeb will be EverWeb and it was designed with iWeb in mind and to be a direct replacement for it.  Take a look again and it has come a long way since the days when it was called EasyWeb - it has not been called that for quite sometime now - being EverWeb - take a look here at EverWeb

If you don't like the other alternatives, then you can take a look at Freeway Pro or Express and see if this suits your needs.

Other than that - I am afraid that this is what is going to happen with iWeb - it will become less workable with every OSX update that comes out, so it might well be that when OSX Sierra comes out, it will stop working altogether.

Not shame on Apple - look at the reasons that they did it and they have let other software companies develop better applications - iWeb served a purpose, but had a lot missing from it and there are now better applications out there.

Either downgrade your OSX back to where iWeb will work or it is time to move on and find another application that you do like - there are plenty out there.  Also take a look at Adobe Muse.

Yes, there is a fix for this and why don't you do a search of this forum?  There have been literally hundreds of posts regarding the missing hyperlinks and other have posted lots of solutions that involve importing shapes and then linking instead.

Either this or you can downgrade your OSX back to one where iWeb is more compatible and will work if you still insist on using unsupported and defunct software!!

    Time to move on!!
