Is it possible to stop iTunes from making changes to my music library

Hello Fellow Music Lovers,

I am having a great deal of problems with iTunes changing details in my Music Library.

Examples: Album Name; Genre; Artwork, Comments ...

I have an extensive Music Library with ~ 7800 songs.

I have my own Genre set-up which assists me in creating playlists.

I also end up with a lot of duplicates! If iTunes doesn't match my information, they create a new record for the same song.

I am frustrated with the amount of time it takes to monitor my Library. (Let alone the changes & duplicate deletes)

Please advise,

Thank You!

God Bless!

Jeanne

Hi,

How do you make changes to your metadata? Do you make changes within iTunes or do you use an external metadata editor?

The only time I have problems with metadata is when I change iTunes store purchases - usually have to make the change more than once before it sticks.

I have a substantial collection - almost 60,000 tracks and have never had this issue.
