Thanks for checking out the Apple Support Communities. I understand how important it is to have all your music.
As long as you are not experiencing an issue with Activation Lock, where the device is asking for your Apple ID (or the old Apple ID) and a code to unlock the device, you will be able to erase the device, and set it up new. Use this help article from Apple: Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings.
Once it is set up new, you can re-sync your music from iTunes. This article can help you do this: Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iTunes on your computer using USB.
If you are experiencing an issue with Activation Lock, you will need to contact AppleCare for assistance with this. Contact Apple for help with Apple ID account security.
Thanks and have a great rest of your day.
