Sling TV streaming issues

Like others here, I've been noticing issues trying to get the Sling TV app to work properly. My solution has been to just 'restart' my Apple TV. It's frustrating for sure. I may have to just go to my Amazon Fire Stick for my Sling. Buggers! The only reason I even put up with it is for my Spanish Soccer! 😉

I gave up...canceled our subscription. I still have the app installed on my Apple TVs, and I've been monitoring to see if Sling puts out any SW updates to address connectivity/QOS issues. Until then, no sense in me paying for it...it got to the point where it was literally unusable, regardless of how many reboots I did. Internet connection is fine, Netflix/Hulu continue to work fine.

My issue with the Sling TV app is when I put my Apple TV to sleep, the next time I wake it and fire up the Sling TV app, it won't load the video. I have to restart my Apple TV for it to work. This occurs on 4 different Apple TV boxes, so it's not anything but the Sling TV app. Amazing how poorly it's built.

Force quitting and restarting the app works for me, but I shouldn't have to be doing that repeatedly. I agree that this is probably a Sling issue, but the app works great on the Amazon Fire Stick I have installed on another TV, so I wonder. The app also works great on my iPad (recent update made a huge difference there).

I am two days into my free trial. Just stopped working on my Apple TV. Still works great (as many others have stated) on my other TV with an Amazon Fire Stick.

I have not found a solution from Sling yet and am still waiting for an email response.

I'm having the same issue with my iPhone 6 Plus and Sling gives me the same response that it's bandwidth issue. I'm running 50GB download. They have the worst customer service on the planet. Sorry I can't help. But you're not alone.

On my second week of trial. Amazon Fire Stick has had no issues. But it still doesn't work properly on Appple TV. many uninstalls and reinstalls.

Sling TV responded that they didn't have an answer after I went through their entire troubleshooting.

Loois like SlingTV will not be staying.....

Sling TV is worthless with the Apple TV. It's a SLING problem and they have been unable to resolve it. Sling's "fix" is for you to delete and reload the Sling TV app. Which is EVERY time I turn off/turn on or put to sleep/wake up. Entirely unacceptable. I'd just cancel your subscription. I am.

We already know that works but it's not acceptable to have to kill apps every time you start up the Apple TV in order to get one to work. NO OTHER app is that way. Not on an iPhone, iPad or Apple TV.

Since my last post to this thread, I got a new ISP. I now have gigabit Internet (fiber to the house). I decided to try Sling one more time and, same issues. Netflix is great, Hulu is great, Sling continually buffers and freezes. This is clearly a problem on their end and/or with the app.

I, too, upgraded from 18mbps to 60mbps and have same terrible results from Sling app. It hasn't been updated in 3 months. Clearly their app dev team doesn't know how to build a dependable Apple TV app. Don't need bells and whistles, just need it to work. After my 3 month trial ends I'm cancelling and trying a different service.

My primary issues with slingtv are the consistent DNS drop outs. I don't experience this issue on my iPad, but it's consistent on my appletv's. it's also Annoying you can only have 1 device using the service at a time. If my family wants to watch in another room it won't allow it. They should definitely setup like Netflix I never have any service or quality issues with Netflix. Also when your watching a program you don't want to be interupped by the app asking if your still watching sooo annoying.

I had the same issue sort of. Every time I turned Apple TV off and went to broadcast tv and came back to Apple TV/ sling - I got a black screen. This started a few weeks ago. So I did a master reset WITHOUT a system update on the Apple TV, turn off auto updates on the Apple TV, re-installed sling tv and now sling works perfect. There is something about apples last Apple TV system update that is not compatible with the Sling TV app. Come on Apple get with the program!!! Or come on Sling get with the program!!!!

You know what's odd about this problem? I have the same occasional issue on Apple TV, but we also use sling's air tv box in our bedroom, and that is problem free. So I don't think it is a bandwidth issue at all - rather an issue with the sling app on Apple TV. Last night we encountered problems on Apple TV, went in the bedroom, and watched the rest of the show on air tv, no issues.

Same issue here. Sling was working fine and then all of a sudden, the app won't log in. I've reinstalled it several times, and confirmed the ID and password. The Sling app on my iMac still works, and every other app on my Apple TV works, so I'm convinced the problem lies in the Apple TV Sling app.

Was there an update within the last week or so that could be the problem?
