Q: ICLOUD
I have reached my i-cloud storage limit and do not wish to upgrade. I selected the option on my mac to cease backing up photos on i-cloud in order to free up space. I then received a message saying that i have 30 days to download my photos from i-cloud before they are deleted. It's not important to me for the photos to be available on i-cloud, but I want to keep the photos on my independent devices (mac & iPhone). Will my photos in iPhoto still be there in 30 days time? Is there a direct connection between iPhoto and iCloud that when photos are removed from iCloud they are also deleted from iPhoto, or are these two spaces independent of each other?
Thanks!

There is a direct connection between the newer Photos (not iPhoto) app on a Mac and iCloud if you have Apple menu > System Preferences > iCloud > Photos options > iCloud Photo Library turned on. If you turn that off then there is no longer a connection.
The following link includes instructions for turning off iCloud Photo Library on one or all devices: Get help with your iCloud Photo Library - Apple Support
