Q: Apple ID disabled

I've been locked out of my apple ID. A worker told me to reset my password and that the email would take at most 24hrs to be sent to my account. I waited, no email. Found out on my own that apple wont reset a password for a disabled account. Some articles say that it will unlock itself the next day (it's been 2 days already), some say that you can prove your identification online (My information fails to go through) and I spoke with a worker in the store who said that I would need proof of purchase along with my ID and that I had to show proof in the store. Are there other ways to resolve this issue? I live a ways from a store and wont be able to go back anytime soon. Also why was I randomly asked for this information in the first place. My sister got the same thing a few days later back to back.
