watch thinks i am my husband

My new apple watch thinks I am my husband as it showed his initials. Then SIRI said his name when answering a question. He is not on my account or linked to my phone. I am confused as to how it did this. But how do I change it.

Hi

Try the following steps, which have resolved similar issues for others:

  • In the Contacts app on your iPhone:
    • Check that there is a single contact card for your husband and that it contains his phone number and, if he has one, his own Apple ID email address - and none of your own contact details.
    • Check that there is a separate, single contact card for you and that it contains your own Apple ID email address and your iPhone number - and none of your husband's contact details.
  • On your iPhone, go to: Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > in the Contacts section, check that My Info is using your contact card.
  • On your iPhone, go to: Settings > General > Siri > My Info - check that your contact card is selected.
  • On your iPhone, go to: Settings > iCloud - enable Contacts.
  • On your Apple Watch: ask Siri "what is my name?"
  • On your iPhone in the Watch app: My Watch > General > Reset > tap once on Reset Sync Data:
    • You will not see anything happen after tapping it (the process will run in the background, invisibly to you).
    • Wait for a minute or so, to allow the process to complete.
  • Restart both your iPhone and your watch (turn both off together, then restart your iPhone first):

To turn your watch off: press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider; drag it to turn off. To restart: press and hold the side button until you see the logo.

HI

THat worked perfectly. Unfortunately my husband's phone now thinks I am him!

could this have something to do with the fact we share the same iCloud account?

he is worried that if he changes things on his phone, once again my Apple Watch will think I am my husband

Your issue is due to sharing an Apple ID / iCloud account, which you should stop doing.

For various features and services to work as intended, you should each have a separate Apple ID and be signed in accordingly on your iPhone and Apple Watch.

Should you wish to share eligible past and future purchases (iTunes music, apps, books, etc), you can still do so via Family Sharing.

Other features of Family Sharing include a shared family calendar (in addition to calendars of your own) and the ability, if desired, to set reminders that will also alert family group members:

Creating a new Apple ID:

How to use that new Apple ID on an iPhone:

The person who changes to a new Apple ID should unpair their Apple Watch before doing so and then pair it back after having set up their iPhone using their new Apple ID:
