Q: Why does iBooks for iOS use so much memory for documents & data when all books are deleted from device/moved to cloud?

This makes me crazy - I've deleted all of my books from device on my iPhone 5s so they are all only in the cloud, and iBooks still uses over 500MB of memory (when the app itself is much smaller) - what gives (and is there any way to fix it)?

iPhone 5s, iOS 9.3.3

What have you tried to see if it frees up the space e.g. closed the app via the phone's taskbar, done a soft-reset/reboot of the phone, tried selecting and syncing (and subsequently deleting) just a small book/PDF from your computer's iTunes to the app ?
