Q: 6S still using data with roaming turned off

I understand that you have some concerns about roaming charges you've received while this functionality was turned off. I know it's important to have control over your service, so I'm happy to provide some direction for this.

Jul 19, 2016 10:22 AMby ChrisJ4203,The Roaming setting that you see in Settings>Cellular is for Data. It says that on the setting itself. That should prevent data roaming, but not roaming for your phone calls and/or SMS. Unless your Verizon phone differs from my AT&T, there is no setting I am aware of for call roaming. You would have to put the device into Airplane Mode. Is it data that you were charged for, or call roaming?

If you go to Settings>Cellular and look at the apps, including System Services at the bottom of the list, you should be able to see what was used, depending on when the last time you reset that list.

Jul 19, 2016 9:07 PMby ChrisJ4203,I'm sorry, I stand corrected on that. I just double-checked my device and after turning cellular off, (I can't check roaming from home), it removes the data symbol. I wonder if it is possible there was a stray Verizon signal. Have you tested turning cellular data off again, without having wi-fi turned on to see if you see a signal? Had you contacted Verizon before your trip to see about cellular roaming for voice? Is it possible they made a mistake in provisioning? Did you have cellular data turned off, or just have roaming turned off? There are two separate settings.
