Hi,
IF...
On the iPhone > Settings > Messages > Send and Receive the iPhone number is greyed out then iMessages sent to the iPhone number will not be received.
Technically you cannot change this setting once you enable the app. That does not stop the number becoming Unticked and therefore not registered if not spotted soon enough.
If the Mac was set to "Start New Conversation From" the iPhone Number then it will revert to Sending from the Apple ID.
After that it can be which settings and IDs are supposed to be active that determines which will work.
If the issue I describe is not sorted then the Number will become de-registered (it allows for Carrier service and WiFi breaks in the short term).
After while that will drop the sync link to the Apple ID.
If it has happened then Sign Out of the Apple ID on the iPhone in Messages (Send and Receive)
The turn the App Off.
Wait a few moments that turn the Messages App back on again and then wait for the number to verify.
You can test send at this point (It will only use the iPhone Number)
If it works Add back th Apple ID (and accept again the pop ups on the Mac version).
Restart Text Forwarding.
