My UK iPhone 6s is not connecting to the network in Germany?
"The network"? What network? Wifi or cellular? And what have you already tried to get it connected?

WHen I'm am home, I use the wifi but when out and about, internet access is nil.
I am on EE 3G/4G and unlimited voice and data plan.
Let's focus on the wifi first... Is Airplane Mode off? And are any networks visible in Settings > Wi-Fi?

I am not too familiar with the UK situation, but aren't many UK iPhones locked to a specific network operator? Have you used your iPhone abroad before?
I am with EE and was advised that I could my iPhone anywhere within Europe.

Try turning off the VPN, in case it's the problem.
Have done that already Diana.
I will then be paying roaming charges, which was the reason for setting up VPN :-)
