Q: I Pod Nano malfunctioned

I have an I Pod Nano 7th generation that is probably 8 to 9 years old.  It's worked perfectly with no problems.  I used it yesterday and put it on the charger last night.  I got it this morning and it wouldn't turn on so I hooked it up to my computer and I get a message that the USB device that I plugged in malfunctioned and so my computer did not recognize it.  Is it toast or is there some kind of reboot that I can do?  Computer running Windows 10.  Haven't had any issues downloading or syncing songs with Windows 10.
