Q: Syncing iPad with Mac

Cannot get to sync. Set up yesterday using iCloud drive. Contacts, calendar, numbers etc. Everything synced.

Made some changes to those today. Turned on iPad, no sync. Plugged in usb same result. Think I have all the right

switches turned on. Checked wifi is working fine on both. Tried push/fetch, nothing. I then ticked mail and added

a second email account. That's the only difference I made but that was after several attempts.

I've missed something.

Any feedback is appreciated...Thanks.

I think that your question/statements are a bit confusing. What are you trying to sync? If you are trying to sync with iTunes, (which you can do using the cable) that is a different thing than having documents, notes, calendar, and contacts syncing across devices.

Please explain in a little more detail what you are doing and what you want to accomplish.

Thanks Demo. Sorry about confusion. Should have posted disclaimer...Tech Challenged.

Originally plugged in pad and it synced music, safari, mail (after gmail setup) without me doing anything that I remember. Realized couple days later I needed iCloud drive to sync contacts, calendar, numbers, pages and notes. Don't think I'm using iTunes. As I said it synced fine yesterday. The only data showing in iTunes on my iPad is music. Thought I was syncing over wifi. Think I have turned everything on.

Hope this is a little clearer. Please let me know if not.

    Thanks

When you sync content with iTunes, you are syncing media for the most part. You can sync music, movies, TV shows, books, photos, and in some instances, contacts, notes and calendar items. Contacts, notes and calendar items will sync using iTunes only if selected to do so and if they are stored locally on the Mac. You do not have this option if they are being synced over the air (WiFi). Notes sync over the air if you are running iOS 9 on your iDevices and El Capitan on the Mac. Your contacts may be synced via email accounts. Notes and calendar events can sync via email accounts as well.

When you are using iCloud Drive, you sync documents across devices and have access to them on all device as long as you are connected to WiFi and are using iCloud Drive on all devices. iCloud Drive does not actually sync contacts and notes, but they are stored in iCloud and kept in sync across devices if so enabled.

That is the very short and perhaps a little confusing story. Perhaps if you explain exactly what you want to see, it might help. Did you open a finder window on the Mac and select the iCloud Drive folder to see what is in there? Have you logged into iCloud.com in Safari to see calendar events, and contacts?

Maybe these will help you better understand iCloud Drive.

Maybe I missed something in what you want to do as well, so please holler back after you have taken some time to read those support articles. Once you have a little clearer picture of what is going on with iCloud Drive, you might be able to be more specific in what you need to do and we can narrow it down further.

    Good luck.
