Q: Where is all this data?

Storage settings on my iPhone 6+ show iMovie taking 10.04 GB, or which 9.3 GB is data. In iTunes I see this

There is 8.5 GB of media, but I have no idea where this comes from. I have two shots in iMovie that also appear in Photos and one other video in Photos. This is a total of under three minutes of video. Three minutes of H.264 1080p30 should be about 0.6 GB. Where does 8.5 GB of drive space come from? These numbers make no sense whatsoever and are blowing out my phone space for no apparent reason.

Anyone know what's going on here?

Thanks very much.

I'm not sure how that 'Desktop' folder got in there. It doesn't appear to be something that iMovie created (or at least I've never seen it appear on my devices) Did you airdrop or import some files to your phone?

Try dragging that 'Desktop' folder to your Mac's Desktop and look inside it.  I'm guessing you'll be able to just delete it and free up all that space.

Thanks very much. It's a folder of stuff from my desktop, graphics and videos. Maybe stuff I used in iMovie at one time, that's no longer on the desktop but still is trapped in iMovieland? There is like like that in iOS iMovie, and I don't think ever was.

See there a way to go from Mac OS iMovie to iOS iMovie? Maybe something I did a long time ago? I assume that anything's in there will get transferred into iOS.

Thanks again for putting me on the right track.
