Q: i want to send a file from my 2010 macbook pro OS X el Capitan to my iPhone 6s 9.3.3 how do i do that
Apple newbie, I've been trying to send a file from a 2010 macbook pro running OS X el Capitan to an IPhone 6s running 9.3.3, I thought by Bluetooth would be a simple way and although bluetooth is turned on on both devices and each is showing the other in settings>bluetooth, they will not connect to transfer the file. Am I particularly dense?

You cannot share files in that manner via Bluetooth. Depending on the file, you may be able to use AirDrop, and that just requires that Bluetooth be turned on, the devices do not need to pair.
