unable to change the date

I am trying to enter the current date in Settings->Date&Time. But I am unable to change the date since it does not go beyond 11/10/1959. Could you please help me understand how to set the current date?

Very strange...

Restart your Mac while holding down the Shift key. This will boot your Mac into Safe Mode, which clears many boot settings it takes muchlonger than a normal startup, but it clears many issues. After the Safe Mode boot, restart your Mac normally to see if the issue disappeared
