Q: search sms

Is there a way for me to do a search for words in my past text messages if I want to find something that was said in a past text message?

iPhone 4S, iOS 9.3.2

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. I understand that you want to search your previous conversations in Messages. I know it's nice to be able to quickly reference previous information, so I'm happy to provide some direction to help.

 

We have some information in this article, which shows that by default, Spotlight Search already allows you to search your messages. Check to ensure it's enabled under Settings > General > Spotlight Search:

Use Search on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
