Q: Help Installing Perian in El Capitan

I recently had to re-image my laptop for work.

 

I used to have Perian installed, which allowed me to play .avi videos (encoded with the xvid codec) through quicktime - more importantly, this allowed me to play them in PowerPoint (as PowerPoint uses quicktime to play videos)

 

I know I'm supposed to be seeing the perian.components in my Library/Quicktime folder. However, when I install Perian, I do not see these files.

 

Please help!

    Check the Library/QuickTime folder for the user account under which you installed the Perian Preference Pane. For example:
