Aug 8, 2016 8:17 AM in response to turingtest2by SamCourtney11,Hi, I have tried many ways of breaking up the sync but still it can randomly eject itself then all the music will be off it and it will say that it needs to be restored. I have done this so many times now. Anything you can suggest?

Aug 8, 2016 8:32 AM in response to SamCourtney11by turingtest2,Well none pending was hopeful, and I've seen devices that work with several thousand reallocs, but if it just won't work then I guess there isn't much to be done. For comparison what are the stats now? Is the cable healthy? Have you tried a different one?

Aug 8, 2016 8:37 AM in response to turingtest2by SamCourtney11,These are the stats now:
Retracts: 44
Reallocs: 3960
Pending Sectors: 0
PowerOn Hours: 628
Start/Stops: 29463

The cable is fairly new but it isn't a proper apple cable.

Aug 8, 2016 8:42 AM in response to SamCourtney11by turingtest2,If it is a good clone then it ought to be OK.
If you're using the break-up transfers method what size chunks are you using? How many rounds do you get before it it fails? How big will the playlist be when everything is copied?

Aug 8, 2016 8:43 AM in response to turingtest2by SamCourtney11,Ive got on my iTunes about 80GB of music, the iPod is 80GB in total but i think i would only put about 50-60GB of music on it. I have been doing it about 1GB at a time and the last time i tried it, i got about 35GB on it then it couldnt do anymore.

Aug 8, 2016 8:47 AM in response to SamCourtney11by turingtest2,You may be hitting a damaged area of the disk. It could be that persistence pays off, or it could be that everything from there on out has trouble being read. Only you can judge how much time it is worth spending on it. Next time you could try say 30Gb in one initial pass, and then start adding on 1Gb at a time.

Aug 8, 2016 8:49 AM in response to turingtest2by SamCourtney11,Okay yeah that could work, I will keep trying that and other ways of syncing it. Do you think it could be because of the cable?

Aug 8, 2016 8:53 AM in response to SamCourtney11by turingtest2,If it loads up 35Gb of data then I don't think so, unless it all goes pear shaped the moment you tap the cable.
