sweating

I do not understand the design of the watch – there ist a narrow gap between the metal body and the sensor of the apple watch. after sweating, while exercising or wearing it a whole hot day, the gap is filled with salt from the sweat. how can it be removed best? no word about this anywhere nor any idea when asking support or genius staff, even the watch is made to use while exercising!?
