Q: ReportCrash is causing my system to overheat

There is a program that occupies more than 90% of my CPU,  sometimes even more than a 110% and causing my fans to go crazy as soon as I turn the machine on. My battery life has dropped significantly because of it.

Screenshot 2014-03-24 21.19.38.png

I'm not sure what to do about this.

It's been going on for the last couple of months. I've already tried quitting and force quitting the program. But when I do, it just comes back up in a few seconds.

Please help, I'm out of ideas.

Thanks in advance!

My system:

15" MacBook Pro (3,1)

MacBook pro 13"

Mid 2010

4 GB ram

OS EL CAPTAIN

Also please note the following :

My MacBook has become really really slow...  I'm worried.. As my work is getting affected now...

    Hello ajwad16,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding there's a program on your MacBook Pro that has impacted it's performance and fan activity. I can surely see how this would be concerning, especially since you've been working on this for a couple of months. I am happy to help.

You've done a great job so far. Next, I recommend starting your in safe mode. This allows your Mac to delete cache and perform certain checks. Follow the steps below to start up in safe mode:

    1. Start or restart your Mac.
    2. Immediately after you hear the startup sound, press and hold the Shift key.
    3. Release the Shift key when you see the Apple logo appear on the screen.

After the Apple logo appears, it might take longer than usual to reach the login screen or your desktop. This is because your Mac performs a directory check of your startup disk as part of safe mode.

To leave safe mode, restart your computer without pressing any keys during startup.

Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up

If the issue persists then the next option would be to reset the System Management Controller (SMC). This system manages several different components on your Mac including the fan. Follow the steps below to reset the SMC:

    1. Shut down the Mac.
    2. Plug in the MagSafe or USB-C power adapter to a power source and to your Mac.
    3. Using the built-in keyboard, press Shift-Control-Option on the left side of the keyboard, then press the power button at the same time.
    4. Release all keys, then press the power button again to turn on your Mac

Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac

    Have a wonderful day!

Thank you for trying those steps and following up. At this point we suggest trying testing this issue in a new user. Please use the instructions in the link below:

How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

If the issue persists  back up your content and reinstall OS X. Use the following links to assist with backing up and reinstalling:
