Q: Displaylink problems after Security Update 2016-004?
I have an AOC portable USB monitor that uses the Displaylink driver and was working fine in the month since I bought it but after I ran Security Update 2016-004, it has stopped working.
It is drawing power though the USB connection (when plugged in the screen turns on and shows an icon instructing me to...plug the monitor in).
I consulted Displaylink troubleshooting docs and have :
* Confirmed that the USB ports are working (my USB mouse/keyboard
combo works fine in both ports and the monitor works in neither port)
* Verified that the System Monitor does not recognize the monitor
* Uninstalled and reinstalled the driver multiple times (including
trying the beta version of the driver)
The monitor manufacturer's tech support was unhelpful in the extreme.
Because the monitor does draw power from the USB connection I don't think it's the cable, though I don't have access to another USB-B 10-pin cable to test with so that is not 100% ruled out.
Is anyone else having a similar problem and if so what have you done to address it? Looking through the details of the security update there are a few things that seem like they could be behind this but I don't understand them well enough to really know.
I am on a MacBook Air (11-inch from mid 2013), running Yosemite (10.10.5).
