Q: iPhone 6s no longer syncing with iTunes

Hello,

My iPhone 6S is no longer being recognized by iTunes (and therefore not syncing or backing up). I'm running the latest versions of iOs and iTunes on Windows 10. This issue started occurring after I installed VPN software on my PC, which I have since removed.

When I go into iTunes --> Preferences, on the 'Sharing' and 'Devices' tabs, it states: "The Bonjour service has been disabled. Bonjour is required to play music through AirPlay speakers and to use the iPhone and iPod Touch Remote. Please re-enable the service to use these features."

So, I'm assuming that Bonjour is somehow switched off. However, when I go into Services, it states that Bonjour is running and the startup type is set to 'automatic' as it should be...

What I've done so far:

- I have followed all the steps mentioned here: If iTunes doesn't recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod - Apple Support

- Re-installed iTunes, Bonjour, Apple Mobile Device Support, Apple Application Support, Apple Software Update

- Restarted all Apple applications in the Services

- Removed my anti-virus software

Nothing is working :-( Do you have any clue on how I couldd fix this? Thanks very much in advance.

Anybody? I've tried another clean install of iTunes and Apple related software, but iTunes still won't recognize my iPhone... Feeling kind of desperate.

    Hello Absolutamente,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

I see that you are having an issue with iTunes for Windows recognizing your iPhone 6S. I know how important it is make sure you can connect your iPhone to sync and back up.

It looks like you've done some great troubleshooting steps so far. I have a couple more things that I would like you to try.

First, let's make sure that you have a recent backup of your iPhone's important data and try to back up via iCloud. This article will help:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Next, let's close all open apps on your iPhone and make sure that there isn't anything running in the background that could be causing a conflict when trying to connect to your PC. The resource below will help:

Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Once you've closed all open apps, please give your iPhone a fresh restart again, and then try to connect to iTunes on your PC and see if it is recognized this time.

    Best Regards.

    **SOLVED**

Okay, I actually managed to solve this issue by going into the Windows command prompt and entering "netsh winsock reset", then hitting enter, which apparantly resets your network connections. Now when I connect my iPhone, it's recognized by iTunes and syncing like before. Took me about 4 days and 1 rather pointless chat with Apple to figure this out...

Hope this helps for anybody else running into the same problem.
